The Sherubtse Hackathon 2026 is a department-level event in which student teams solve a real-world data problem within a fixed time window using data science, machine learning, or data analytics tools and techniques. The event is meant to encourage teamwork, applied problem-solving, and creative use of data. What is more, to collect classroom learning with real-world problems.
Requirements
The problem statement and dataset are released only at the start of the event, so no team has a head start. A pre-cleaned dataset will be provided so that participants can complete the task within the given time, yet they will still need to perform real EDA and feature engineering. The following are the tracks for the hackathon.
- Predictive Modelling — regression/classification on a provided dataset
- NLP / Text Analytics — sentiment, classification, or summarisation task
- Data Visualisation and Storytelling — exploratory analysis and dashboard-building on a messy real-world dataset
